salsa time

Since summertime is right around the corner I thought I would share my homemade salsa recipe I have posted it before but its so good that I thought it was worth a repost :D
6 to 8 med to large Roma tomatoes or 2 large cans of crushed or whole tomatoes
2 cloves of garlic - minced
Green bell pepper -cut thinly
1 jalapeno pepper chopped (remove the seeds for less heat)
1 med onion chopped thinly
1/4 c. or less or more depending on your taste of cilantro
juice of one lime
salt and pepper to taste

par boil tomatoes (couple of minutes until you can remove skins)
mash tomatoes and bring everything to boil simmer until onions are transparent

puree everything in a blender or food processor

cool in fridge and eat up!

(we grow a salsa garden every year but I have used canned tomatoes it turned out fine)

I hope you enjoy!
Carrie

I have always wanted to make my own salsa. Thanks for sharing your recipe. I was thinking about getting a tomato plant for my deck. Maybe this is a sign. I could also grow my own cilantro.
You have given me something to think about.

Looks yummy! We didn't have time to plant a garden this year! But I'll file it away until next summer or I'll just make it with the canned tomatoes! Thanks for sharing!

Sounds yummy! My Dad made a homemade salsa last week and sent some home with us. Bryan thought it was too hot so it was all mine... :o)
